1) Pick your favorite piece and describe what you like about it. Explain your interpretation about the scene she created.
2) How did she create these scenarios photoshop, constructed installations, both?
3) How might you apply some of Jee's techniques in your multiples project?

I like the Panic Room piece. It is so disoriented and trippy that it is just amazing to look at. I don't know how she would have created this scene, but I would guess she did photoshop because of how it is all put together so perfectly. I like the repetive pattern of the checkered look so I might try and do something to incorporate that..

I like how the mice are scattered in a wavy motion. I think that the photographer maybe is showing that if you don't have a clean house you get pests. I think she had several pictures of the mice then scattered them the way she wanted. I would consider to keep the shadows of my object like she did.

My favorite picture was probably the one with the grass and the moon and the girl laying in the grass. I have no idea how she made these things, but they are amazing. you could use things like this in the multiples project like putting different things in different spots.

My favorite piece would have to be Treasure Hunt, I liked how it showed mystery and a sense of advernture. My interpretation wold be the girl is dreaming and dreams up the room, but each time its a different scene, a different adventure.
ReplyDeleteI dont know how she created the scenes or how she set them up.
Using repitition in her photos, being unique.

My favorite piece of work was the "Panic Room". I loved the complex design of the room and how it feels warped. I liked how she used photoshop to put objects in unique places where they don't belong. I don't know how I will use this to my multiples project, but I imagine in the end I will find a way too.

My favorite piece is Resurrection. What I really like about is that it's kinda of abstract. It's different than what you would normally think or see. The colors really compliment each other and they're pretty. I think it's a really smart and cool idea to do. I think she did use some sort of different materials to make them but then used photoshop to make them look better. I will make sure to use all of the space in the photo. I'll try and go in a different direction then others.

I like the piece called panic room because of how trippy it is, and the cool colors used. I think the little box in the corner that is being either crawled into or out of is the panic room, which is used to escape the panic and chaos of the outside scene. I do not believe any photoshop was used, and that all of the effects are practical. I do not know how I would apply her techniques in my multiples project.

My favorite one is the one of the hand sticking out of the blue fans. My interpretation of this scene is a person who cell into the fans and has to reach the rope to get out; all of the photos are pretty in a scary way. I could apply some of Jee's techniques by using repetition and setting up the scene.

My favorite picture is Panic Room because the color pops with the checkered pattern, there is a lot of movement and a lot that catches the eye. I am guessing she photoshopped the rug and the little ball things in the picture to add movement to the photo. In my photo I am going to try to add a lot of movement and color to keep the eye interested

My favorite piece is resurrection. I like the lotus flowers repeated and how there's a girl just hiding with in them. In photo shop I think just repeated the flowers and moved them around. One thing I can do to my multiples project that will have Jee's techniques in it is to play with the lighting and placement of physical objects.

My favorite piece is the one with the blue fans with the hand reaching out in the middle. Makes the subject looks like its drowning in the blue fans, symbolizing the ocean, she's reaching for the rope trying to save themselves. Giving off a sense of panic and drowning. I could apply the technique of the repetition of the objects and the abstract quality of the photos.

The one that stuck with me and I truly love is Nightscape by Jee Young Lee. The photo is a calmed mystery that clings the eye to leave a wonder of the mind. She for sure took a very long time to hand paint and construct the wholeness of the photo. Hand crafting a setup to make a great photo would be what can be put into the assignment.

My favorite piece would be "Treasure Hunt". I like it because of the color palette throughout the entire photo, and its sense of peace/almost adventurous feel to it. I took the photo as her being introspective and hunting/ looking farther inside of herself, the walls depicting the walls of her mind, looking for "treasure" inside herself. It is constructed. I could take away from this that I should control my settings and negative space more, as well as make my subject and story more unique.

My favourite piece is the lilly pad one called Resurrection. I like the dreamy type feel you get from looking at it; I also like the colours of green with the opening flowers of pink. My interpretation is that there is a person is being resurrected and the scene is in a dream state.
ReplyDeleteI think she did these scenarios through full construction of actual pieces. She didn't use photoshop unless with colours.
You can use the controlled piece of the objects in the space you have around you and use it to create your scene.
Conn, Rachel
My favorite piece is Treasure Hunt because I really enjoy the colors that were used in the photo and the way the texture of the grass contrasted with the rest of the photograph. She created these with constructed installations because she does not like digital manipulation.

My favorite piece is "I'll Be Back". I like the spiraling of the seashells, or whatever they are, along with the arm in the center. This photo has really good color, it is all different shades of blue which is very pretty. I think the photo is someone sucked into something, scared, trying to be saved.
ReplyDeleteShe used repetition really well, and spiraled the object perfectly. I could make sure to use shadows in my own photo.

I like the first piece on the link, resurrection. I like how her work is set in a place of a dream land or a state of anxiety or panic. I also like how each of her pieces are so different from each other. I like resurrection because it looks like she is confused and uncertain about her surroundings like I would imagine someone would be if they were resurrected. Plus the ground has a sort of fog to it which just adds to the mystery for me.
ReplyDeleteShe created these scenarios with constructed installations and maybe a little touch up work in photoshop.
I could build multiples of things instead of taking bunch of picture and stacking them on top of each other.
Gehrke, S
I like the piece titled treasure hunt. I think she made it by using fake grass at different levels so it's lumpy, painting the moon and various lighting effects. I could use the effect of repetition on my multiples project.
